SOLO EXHIBITION The World of Muslim Women
The World of Muslim Women Jamilah Haji Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah) for giving me life, artistic skills along with the strong faith so that I can applied them in my way of life. They are the inspiration for me to be a better Muslim and stay away from what are prohibited by God. The internal factor arouses me to create the artworks that send a message to women in the society nowadays about the truth of life. Facing social or individual problems weaken our minds. Looking back to the past, some of us spent our lives depending on what drawing us to failure. The surroundings provoked us to live without the awareness of the essence of life. Then one day Allah urged us to explore the sermons of Islam, the problems seems to be the small part of our lives that we shall get over when we understand what the goal of our lives is. In Islam, people are attached to the 6 pillars of faith consisting of belief in Allah, belief in his angels, belief in his messengers, belief in his books, belief in the last day, and belief in Al – Qadar (Pre – Ordainment). The Muslims live their lives under the 5 pillars of practices. They are the testimony of faith, 5 daily prayers, giving zakat (support of the needy), fasting during the month of Ramadan, and the pilgrimage to Makkah once in a lifetime for those who are able. I am interested and inspired by the roles and responsibilities of Muslim women in her families as well as the situations of them in the contemporary society of the world nowadays. Later, with the better level of maturity and thought, I pondered deeply over the goal of life and found that the believers should be awared and pay attention to the life planning; that is we should live our lives for both secular and religious goals. “The World of Muslimah” is the new way of art creation presenting by the unique techniques of sawing along with the materials signifying the meaning of the good women under the concepts of Islam. The artworks were inspired by the sermons of Islam regarding the roles and responsibilities of Muslim women to their families and societies. They are created in the format of the two dimensional art of sawing, mixed media art, and installation art.
